Goose Creek CISD rezoning forum seeks feedback on school boundary changes
About 80 to 90 people attended a public forum on rezoning for Goose Creek CISD elementary and junior schools. Maps are on the GCCISD site with a comment form open through Friday. The rezoning committee will present recommendations to the Board of Trustees on February 24. Final decisions rest with the trustees who may adopt a plan or craft their own. Overcrowding and the opening of two new elementaries Dr Antonio Banuelos and Johnny Tee Clark drive the redraw, with Alamo Elementary relocating to 6033 N Highway 146. The evening covered three proposals. six residents spoke, including two Allenbrook parents favoring Crockett zoning. One proposal would keep Allenbrook with Crockett. two would move it to Alamo. Marvin Moore noted they were rezoned in 2011 and oppose another move.

Crosby High School's debate program, led by head coach Jason Courville since 2002, has produced district CX champions for 19 years. Seniors Ashley Lance and Nelson Zepeda will compete in the Class 4A state tournament at the University of Texas in Austin, aiming for the state title after strong showings at district level. Lance has a track record of success, reaching round of 16 as a freshman and winning state as a junior with former partner Gonzales.
