Church con artists target churches across towns
Wilson Adams, minister of the Eastside Church of Christ in Baytown, warns of recurring church scam patterns. Traveling con artists arrive after services with sad tales, push a loved one in a wheelchair, and ask for money while one partner waits outside. The scheme replicates in multiple towns, with stories shifting geography and motives.
