Eight-liner gambling pits draw crime while law limits bite
Baytown and Chambers County officials describe covert gambling rooms known as eight-liners that pay out up to thousands but bar unknown patrons. They are shut down and reopened, with police facing jurisdictional limits and the risk of robberies and shootings tied to illegal gaming. Redneck Racing Parts Etc. in Chambers County operates as a private club with a loyal, older clientele and minimal prizes, complicating enforcement.
