Legislature Forges Ahead On Tax Task Committees Finding Hospital Money
The Texas Legislature moved into its second session day as committees began mapping hospital funding. Senate approved a 488000 deficiency for the state hospital system and prepared to vote on a 2000000 operating budget. The revenue and taxation panel advanced a 10 percent omnibus tax rise and favored a one cent cigarette tax increase and a natural gas tax.
