New York crowds hailed the Giants after their 17 14 Super Bowl victory over New England, braving light rain for a ticker tape parade through the Canyon of Heroes. MVP Eli Manning said the team was proud to bring the championship back to New York City.
New England Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews pleaded not guilty to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after authorities found him with about a half pound of marijuana. He was also charged with driving an unregistered motor vehicle a black Crown Victoria.
Roger Clemens spent about five hours with congressional lawyers and again denied using performance enhancing drugs. He thanked the committee for its courtesy and reiterated that he has never used steroids or growth hormone.

The Sterling Lady Rangers erased a 19-9 half time deficit to beat Beaumont West Brook 43-35 and clinch a Class SA playoff spot. Deshelle Isaac 14 points Mahogany Terry 13 points 15 rebounds led Sterling, which outscored West Brook 19-2 in the third period and earned a bi district date with North Shore. West Brook's Michelle Segura had 16 in defeat as Sterling finished 18-13 overall 8-6 in district.
Lee's Ulises Irias scores twice in the first half guiding a 3-0 Lee boys victory over Kingwood's Rangers as Sterling's girls rout Listerine and Scope for a 5-0 district win. Ilias adds two goals for Sterling. Ranger coach Jim Richter notes missed chances in the district setback.
Memorial Lee Lady Ganders completed a 9-20 season despite a 47-39 loss to Port Arthur Memorial, who clinched playoff positioning. Damequin Montgomery led Lee with 12 points and 18 rebounds, while Kandice Smith paced Port Arthur with 19 points. Gray cited Memorial’s athleticism and depth as decisive factors.
The Lee High School girls track program, led by first year head coach Shalesa Lowe, has 23 varsity and junior varsity runners. The Lady Ganders aim to reach the Region III meet after missing last year, with strong potential from a 4x200 relay squad and Burlieson in the 300 meter hurdles. Their season starts Feb 15 at Kingwood, with six meets planned and TSU relays a possible goal during spring break.
