Environment groups urge Fifth Circuit to revive Exxon case
Environmental groups pressed the Fifth Circuit to revive a Clean Air Act case against ExxonMobil. They argue the act protects the public from air pollution and that courts must apply the standard of review consistently. Exxon says it complies with permits and regulations while denying economic benefit from violations. The case, tied to the Baytown complex, features trials since 2008 over upset events and alleged thousands of violations, with oral arguments set to be reviewed before a panel.
