Environmental groups push ExxonMobil penalty in Texas case
Attorneys for Environment Texas and the Sierra Club urged a Fifth Circuit panel in New Orleans to overturn a district court ruling that ExxonMobil did not violate the Clean Air Act. They argue thousands of emissions violations at the Baytown refinery and chemical complex from 2005 to 2012 merit a $642 million civil penalty and independent monitoring.
