Hazel Perkins leaves the hospital to find help from neighbors who donated an electric mixer and $100 from Ava Vivrett of Beaumont. Contributions came from many locals including Lonnie Lewis and Doug Caney while a Thanksgiving Day fire was fought with help from a mysterious young rescuer later identified as Ronnie Pittman of Mont Belvieu. Voytek reports a rare year of rain with Highlands receiving .7 inch mainly 6:30 to 10 a.m. December rains added .1 inch on Dec 23 and 13 and .2 inch on Dec 11. Carl Tyler measured .45 inch in Baytown Wednesday morning. He notes 2.05 inches on Nov 13 and 1.5 inches on Nov 9. October led the year with 14.3 inches. November had 3.9 inches.
