A 7:30 p.m. Tuesday KC Council officers meeting at KC Hall 2600 W Main is called by District Deputy Fred J Kana for San Jacinto Council 2788 Baytown officers. District 25 spans La Porte Crosby and Baytown.
City may move Bayway Drive improvement to Phase II to save about $100,000 in the Brownwood project. Bayway fill would raise Brownwood perimeter streets, with Bayway and Brownwood work run concurrently. A 24 hour traffic count on Bayway showed 10,155 vehicles.
Several Baytown residents host or visit family during the holidays. Ralph White and James Hall spend time in Baytown with extended kin. Darrel Radle Kim and Tom Durham visit family, while Grover Edge and Harald DeJeaus drop by. L R Rigby comments on football bowls, Gary Angel visits the Sun office, and Al Herring steps into a Baytown Little Theater production. Baytown traffic deaths for 1970 rose to five after a car train crash on Decker Drive. Gene Owens died at Ben Taub Hospital from injuries sustained in the early Saturday collision. Through December, Baytown logged 1,527 accidents this year, with 216 major wrecks and 234 injuries, nearing last year’s totals.
Wil lam Lawrence Enoch 81 of 2718 Virginia Baytown died Tuesday at a Baytown hospital after 34 years in the city. He retired 16 years ago from Humble Oil Baytown Refinery where he was a machinist. Surviving are his daughter Rose Cravey two sons Hobart and Robert, sister Maude Enoch seven grandchildren and his wife Nettie died May 1968. Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday at St Mark s Methodist Church with burial at Memory Gardens.
Harris County Savings and Loan Association announced plans for a new three story building at Ward Road and Highway 146 to begin in early 1971. The Spanish Mediterranean style will feature concrete arches, bronze glass, a community room and drive up window. The project is by Bank Building Corp with Wilburn McCormick as architect.

Vestal Vernon Ramsey known as Red will exit as Harris County Precinct 2 commissioner this Thursday ending an 18 year tenure begun in 1952. He says he is outvoted not defeated and hints at possible future political activity. he will join C. C. Smitherman in a real estate partnership at 2703 Cullen Blvd Houston. Ramsey previously ran a Channelview feed store and was a Tenaha and Texas City educator and star guard at Stephen F. Austin.
Betsy Webber reports the school district outlines a free and reduced price lunch policy. Eligibility depends on principal assessment plus family income and size. Applications go home, with reviews within 10 days. notices are confidential and mailed to families.

Police at Alexander and Texas fined 20 motorists in one hour during a right turn enforcement. Chief John Wilkinson said officers used multiple cars to monitor the lane rule as signs were recently put up and motorists were warned before tickets began.
The Senate passed a 1.8 billion appropriation bill providing 255 million for Cambodia and 500 million for Israel defense support and sent it to Nixon. It also moved to settle the defense bill impasse and anticipated a late vote on Social Security increases for about 3 million aged, blind and disabled Americans, while leaving the SSTO funding dispute unresolved.
