Clem Marshall and family from Monroe were pulled over on Highway 146 at noon on Christmas Eve as part of the Holiday Optimists Welcome Stranger project. They were escorted to Holiday Inn for dinner and gifts, then greeted by about 30 Optimists and their wives. City Manager Lanham presented a Bible gift to Mrs. Marshall. Debbie Marshall, a Northeast Louisiana University basketball player, commented on future games. The family planned to visit Texas City after the celebration, thanking Baytown merchants for the gifts.
