Harlem students start penny wars to aid SPCA
A group of Harlem girls launched a school penny war to raise funds for animals. Collecting over $500 through in-class coin drives dubbed Make a Change by Donating Yours, the effort began with a $100 rescue goal and grew after teachers and Principal Michael Wall supported the project. The money was sent to SPCA on Portway Road, inspiring future yearly drives and local gratitude. Miriam Heredia shared the story before leaving for Mexico.
