Francis of Assisi and the Nativity Creche Tradition
A historical overview attributes the ending of Nativity bans to Francis of Assisi. It recounts his first creche at Grecian town on Christmas Eve, the spread of Christmas scenes through the centuries, and how Francis influenced church permission, led to evolving figures, and the rise of two main creche forms with angels, shepherds, and wise men.
