Dioxin Findings Upheld Amid Private Well Concerns
DSHS results from March and April show dioxins and furans in the new well water are unlikely to harm children or residents living on the site. Old well use remains a concern, and health officials urge private-well testing, precautionary filtration, and adherence to EPA guidance while discussing a broader Highlands infrastructure remedy. The San Jacinto River Waste Pits near Highlands and Channelview, a former toxic dumpsite, are under EPA Superfund review with public comment ongoing.
