The fifth annual Clusin Texas Toy Drive successfully gathered toys and cash, with 700 children aided this past weekend. Michelle Reeves Phillips notes the event’s success as organizers plan for next year. Co hosted by Rocky's Pelican Junction and Baytown, the toy drive began with a police escorted Baytown ride led by Santa on a fire engine, followed by motorcycles and classic cars with an entry fee of one unwrapped toy or cash. Local officials and community leaders visited Chevron Phillips Chemical’s Cedar Bayou plant in Baytown on December 19 to thank them for supporting the new world-scale ethane cracker. The facility will have 1.5 million metric tons per year capacity, with completion targeted for 2017 and promises hundreds of long term jobs plus thousands of construction positions.
