County Won't Lose State Tax Collection Fee
Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Carl Smith announced a state attorney general ruling confirms the county will not lose roughly 300000 dollars in 1968 tax assessing fees for state service. He noted a 1969 loss of about 327000 dollars would be offset by a 10 percent county tax increase, preventing any anticipated shortfall from the phase out of state ad valorem tax coverage over a decade.
