A Barbers Hill High School teacher, Kay Whinwell, was seriously injured when steel beams from a Mosher Steel truck pierced her car during dense fog on Highway 12 near Highway 146 exit. She was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital for observation with sprains and abrasions. Driver John Whitton of Houston claimed Whinwell stopped suddenly, causing the collision, as beams breached the windshield and frame.
