Goose Creek CISD board member Bryan Graham submitted his resignation effective Monday citing a job transfer. An oil and gas engineer, he was elected in May to represent District 4 covering central Baytown. Trustees set a nomination window through Jan 24 to fill the vacancy until the May 2015 election.
Steve Stockman’s late withdrawal to pursue the Senate opened space on the District 36 Republican ballot as six more candidates filed before the extended December deadline. New entrants include Brian Rabin a Woodville dentist Jim Engstrand a Lumberton businessman and 2012 candidate Pat Kasprzak a Crosby teacher John Manlove a Pasadena public relations firm owner and former Pasadena mayor.
Goose Creek CISD trustees approved naming two new elementary campuses after Dr Antonio Bafuelos and Johnny Tee Clark Jr while deferring which name goes to which building. The sites are near Victoria Walker Elementary and on Highway 146 with a third replacement campus retaining the Alamo Elementary name.
Barbers Hill ISD trustees held public hearings to authorize two 313 agreements. Lone Star NGL plans a $246 million natural gas fractionator and Cedar Bayou Fractionators a $300 million facility within the district. Both will cap assessed values after completion, with full taxes during construction and $30 million value during eight years of operation.

Rosa Johnson, longtime Baytown real estate broker and community organizer, died after sustaining injuries from a multi vehicle crash on Garth Road October 18. Friends recall her as outgoing and tireless in Beta Sigma Phi, Sheltering Arms donations, Wounded Warriors support, and church and civic work. Visitation today at Navarre Funeral Home precedes Thursday funeral and burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
