Highlands woman stabbed to death before house fire
A 72-year-old Highlands woman, Carol ine Sue Stagner, died from multiple stab wounds prior to a house fire at her home on Clear Lake Road. Autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences released Monday confirms the injuries, and homicide investigators seek tips. Firefighters from Highlands and neighboring departments battled the blaze 6:34 a.m. Friday, finding Stagner deceased in bed as the one-story home burned, with blood reportedly on the bed.

Fleeing thief kills woman in Pasadena crash
