Engineers and Constructors International, based in Baton Rouge and working on ExxonMobil’s North American Growth Project in Baytown, donates $20,000 to Texas Veterans Helping Veterans. The gift follows a safety campaign tied to perfect Job Safety Analysis scores, with each score triggering a $500 charity donation. Gil Sosa accepted the check on behalf of the nonprofit.
Baytown City Council gave final approval to annex 206 acres along North Main Street between I 10 and Wallisville Road and allowed pigs at the Baytown Youth Fairgrounds. One landowner with about 76 acres delayed annexation for seven years pending conditions for nonagricultural development. New roads and Goose Creek Reserve development by D R Horton are noted.
The council approved a Hampstead subdivision at the Goose Creek Country Club site with the developer funding at least half of a new traffic signal at West Baker Road and Country Club Drive and building the subdivision streets for transfer to the city. They also added four general commercial uses including warehouse and light manufacturing with stricter siting rules. manufacturing must be indoors. The city will shift tow services from rotation of about 18 firms to contracted providers, likely five, to enforce standards and reduce improper charges.
