Votes Lost Says Director Reports County Totals Delayed
Austin AP Despite 81 counties shown unreported on election night Nov 8, Gladney says most had reported or had phone issues. Some clerks lacked final results due to busy lines or box delays, with apology from Secretary of State Fainter. A task force later commended clerks after review showed 49 counties did report totals. Phone records and computer problems contributed to the initial confusion about missing totals. Election Central, created in 1983, speeds tabulation for media.
