Washington sources report President Truman plans a radio address this weekend to outline a national emergency proclamation and wage price controls. He will meet with congressional leaders including Senator Robert Taft to discuss enacting controls, while officials weigh bipartisan support and practical enforcement challenges.
A plane tour over East Harris County shows a broad scorched landscape from Cedar Bayou Estates to Seabrook. Fires burned scattered houses, including a two story home, with eight houses burning between Seabrook and the Houston Yacht Club. Active staff totals 23. four on courtesy staff. 87 on consultant staff. Trustees present included John M Kilgore Bob Mathe me Theo Wilburn J Brean Stratton and Joe Reid with Miss Louise Wilkenson. Dr Bruce praised staff work noting 342 patients discharged.
