Journey To Moon Won't Be Simple
STATE COLLEGE PA. December 5 Scientists at Pennsylvania State College say a voyage to the moon or other planets won’t be simple. The ship must endure wide temperature swings and exposure to deadly ultraviolet rays due to near absence of air pressure. Dr Marcel Nicolet and Phillip W Mange note low molecular density in space causes extreme heat and cold, with temperatures dropping from 70 on Earth to minus 150 at 50 miles up and rising to about 3500 degrees at 250 miles. Ultraviolet rays would be stronger without atmospheric protection.
