Crystal Schoppe filed a federal lawsuit against Chambers County Sheriff and department alleging failure to investigate sexual harassment and sexual assault complaints. Attorney Kenneth McGuire said the suit will name former Deputy John Joslin, claimed harasser, with incidents from February to May 2002 and an assault in March 2002. The plaintiff cited a close relationship between Sheriff Monroe Kruezer and Joslin as a factor in not coming forward. Kruezer has not yet been named in the suit.
ExxonMobil and employee giving to the United Way of Baytown Area set a record with a total of 1,107,919 dollars. About 790,009 dollars comes from employee contributions while company support accounts for the rest. United Way executive director David Mohiman notes the donation surpasses last year by roughly 30,000 dollars.
