H E Humphrey Dies At 66 Retired Refinery Employee
Howard Earl Humphrey a Baytown resident for 35 years and former pumping and gouging department foreman at the Baytown refinery died at 2:45 pm Monday after a long illness. He was a World War I veteran and held leadership roles in veterans and civic groups. Funeral services are set for 10 am Wednesday at Paul A. Lee funeral home with burial in Jersey City. Survivors include his wife Orleanor, a son Maj Howard MacKenzie Humphrey, two daughters, two sisters, and other relatives.

In Waco Texas the murder trial of 88 year old Harry L Washburn is broadcast live on KWTX TV from the courtroom. Prosecutors say he booby trapped the ignition of his ex mother in law Helen Harris Weaver s car in San Angelo Texas January 39 1951. The trial moved to Waco on a venue change to allow more testimony before judge D W Bartlett. The station reports the setup is minimally staged with a balcony mounted camera and unobtrusive lighting. Weaver testified that Washburn threatened both him and his wife in the early hours of April 22 1951.
