Tiny Pin Fault Triggers Ford Recall Covering 900000 Cars
Detroit AP reports a tiny torsion rod lock pin missing from about 76 000 steering units led Ford to recall more than 900 000 1972 Torinos Montegos Fords Mercurys Lincolns Rancheros and light pickups. Ford estimated recall costs above 1.5 million with letters mailed and new steering units installed where needed. About 65 percent of cars examined since September show owner response, with further reminders planned.
