Eastvale Texas sells land by the inch to fund water fixes
Eastvale, labeled blighted by Denton County, auctions land by the square inch at ten dollars to raise funds for roads and water and sewer systems. Mayor Bert Eubanks says a national sale could reach millions but aims for practical gains. The plan follows years of water outages and deteriorating roads, with residents scarce and buses and mail service threatened. The city seeks emergency status and federal aid while hoping for quick improvements.
