Highlands stabbing victim recovers after hospital transport
James Zumwalt, 20, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with a chest stab wound and is in good condition. The alleged attacker, 40 year old Kelly Ray Smith, is Zumwalt’s stepfather and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He appeared in court. bond set at $50,000. Arraignment scheduled for Jan. 18.
