Baytown Symphony to Perform Holiday Concert at Grace Church
The Baytown Symphony Orchestra conducts its annual holiday concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church with free admission and a post concert reception. Conductor Dr. David Corder leads joined by Lee College Concert Choir and Baytown Community Chorus under Eduardo Garcia-Novelli and Lee High School Treble Choir led by Theresa Cronin. Soloists include Elisa Thompson Stéphane de Mahieu and Kent Reep. Garcia-Novelli, a Buenos Aires native, holds degrees from two Buenos Aires conservatories and is set to earn his Doctor of Musical Arts next spring at the University of Houston.

The Galveston District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comment by December 17 on a proposed oil well in Trinity Bay off Smith Point Lone Oak Bayou. The E and P Yiuna Company would drill a 0.3 acre shell pad with three-pile clusters 14.9 miles southeast of Baytown, with a public hearing if comments trigger one. Oyster beds nearby were deemed unaffected per a Galveston Bay Foundation official.
