A Baytown Christian Academy girls volleyball van carrying 11 players and two coaches to a hotel was struck from behind by a Mercedes speeding on Highway 183 in Irving. The vehicle rolled onto its side and slid along the freeway before stopping. Four injured players, Hannah Rose, 16, Christian Brantley, 15, Annie Davis, 16 and Kaci Davis, joined teammates at a home gathering as they repair after the crash. Police questioned whether the driver, Christopher Gray, was racing, with full details pending.
A Saturday morning blaze at the Barrett family home in Barrett Station destroyed about 140 years of history and more than 100000 in property and antiques. Anna Pearl Barrett identified the incident as an electrical fire, with sister Dolores Bell present in the home.

A Harris County grand jury declined to indict two Baytown officers over the April shooting of 18 year old Kevin Oneal Harrison.
