In Lubbock Texas Saturday night, two beadlike crescent formations sped across the sky in about three seconds. W L Ducker head of the Tech Petroleum Engineering Dept and Dr A G Bert of chemical engineering, with geology professor Brett Robinson, observed the sight from Robinsons home. They estimated speeds ranging from 1200 mph at 12 miles high to about 18000 mph if at 50,000 feet, noting no shock waves. The shape remained uncertain due to the extreme speed.
