Deputy Premier Hossein Fatemi says Iran is ready to sell crude oil from its Badan fields for cash to any foreign customer including Russia. He notes Iran does not need foreign experts, as Iranian engineers can run oilfields and produce refined products. The plan was rejected after British technicians left Iran.

A tropical storm with 65 mph winds roared up Mexico’s Pacific coast forcing flight cancellations and sending ships to shelter. It hovered about 50 miles southwest of Manzanillo while moving northwest parallel to the coast. Heavy rain and strong winds lashed Acapulco causing aerial navigation to halt as shipping remained warned to seek shelter.

Pearce Purvis six year old son of Mr and Mrs J H Purvis of Cedar Bayou was taken to Hedgecroft Clinis at 2 30 am today after illness diagnosed as Poliomyelitis He had been ill for several days and was admitted to San Jacinto Memorial Hospital yesterday with a high temperature He became worse during the night and this condition was diagnosed as polio The Purvises lived on Cedar Bayou Lynchburg Road near the Southern Pacific Railroad Another Cedar Bayou child who had polio has recovered and returned home He is Kenneth Scroggins 11 who is living with his uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs Scroggins The mother said today report from laboratory tests will be available in a few days
