Baytown police captured Johnny Dwayne Johnson after a spree that included a church burglary at Redeemer Lutheran, a Baskin Robbins robbery, and a James Food Mart incident. Investigators linked surveillance and pawnshop records to Johnson, who was arrested on church burglary charges and could face additional counts for the ice cream shop and convenience store robberies.
Baytown police search for two men who broke into Super Stop Food Mart on Beaumont Street about 1 a.m. Friday. Surveillance shows them using a crowbar to breach a sliding partition, entering through an unlocked door, then stealing cash from an ATM. They fled toward Knowlton Street and into a Nissan Altima. The West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce plans its annual Ladies' Night this Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. at McLeod Park Pavilion in Mont Belvieu. The event features neck and foot massages, brow and hand consultations, eight restaurant dishes, a banana split bar, and a wig themed costume contest to encourage social fun.
Anahuac ISD hosted a new teacher breakfast sponsored by the Anahuac Chamber of Commerce on Friday. The Crosby Fair and Rodeo donated 835000 to Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital Pink Heals Endowment Fund, plus 5000 to the American Cancer Society, from the February Bias for the Cause event. Committee chair Debbie Holmelen and Denise Martinez underscored that all funds stay local to support patients in need. The Pink Heals Endowment aids costs for cancer patients at the hospital Cancer Center. The 2014 Bias for the Cause is set for February 8 at the Crosby American Legion Hall.
