Gulf Coast Hospital undertakes multi million dollar renovations and expansions to its original facility near Interstate 10. Baytown Arts History Highlighted in Sesquicentennial Event
Sterling Municipal Library hosted the Baytown cultural arts discussion as part of its Sesquicentennial program Baytown: The Early Years. Panelists included Mary Pat Connor Jim Richardson Lucile Puderbaugh Dave Corder and Elvira Martinez. Cora Turner of the Baytown Symphony Orchestra entertained the audience. Connor noted the Baytown Art League formed in 1952 and showed a slide show of former members and works. Paintings by the Art League remain on display through Aug 28. Richardson recalled BLT’s 25th anniversary and its 170 shows 35 musicals 32 dramas 10 mysteries 11 children’s shows and three ballets with more than 100 000 commissions over 25 years.

Randy Lynn Woolls, 36, was executed in Huntsville for the 1979 Kerrville drive-in killing of Betty Stotts.
