Goldenweed control study targets cattle range decline
Texas A&I researchers led by Dr. Lynn Drawe study isocoma coronopifolia known as goldenweed. The shrub infests four South Texas counties Webb Zapata Starr and Jim Hogg with tens of thousands of acres affected. Trials at the Sylvestre Bustamante Estate test chemical and shredding methods, with three treatments planned in 1971 and 1972 to compare forage loss and plant vigor, aided by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Association.
