Baytown weighs image boost to attract new residents
Baytown Mayor Stephen DonCarlos called for a citywide effort to improve the image and appeal of Baytown. 12 year old drowns in San Jacinto River Banana Bend
A 12 year old boy died after drowning while swimming with a friend in the Banana Bend area of the San Jacinto River. The incident occurred near Banana Bend Park around 4 45 p m. The boy went out too far and was pulled under by undertow despite a friend and an adult attempting rescue. The body was recovered about 7 p m ten feet offshore in seven feet of water. Group assistance from Harris County deputies marine unit aided the search. Names and initial details were not immediately released.
