La Porte firefighters battled a blaze at Bay-Tex Plastics, 622 N Ninth, after an acetylene bottle leak. Chief Joe Sease said 50 firefighters from three stations fought for over an hour, heat exhaustion sent Mark Clark to Humana Baytown, and the building 60 by 100 feet largely burned, with only a south end storage area spared.
