Old Wharf Transformed Into Fishermen's Supermarket

An Oakland couple leases a battered Oakland Estuary wharf and converts it into a one-stop supermarket for West Coast fishermen. The setup offers canned goods, a new boat, shaving and shower facilities, news, an ice house, and a catch-judging platform. Evanses foresee hosting up to 25 vessels and storing winter boats, aiming to attract mariners from across the coast and spark local economic activity. The project could spark competition with San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf if successful, with Evans planning more maintenance contracts.
