Houston Memories: Prince's Drive In and Lost Iconic Venues
Old photos stir memories of Houston days past. Prince's Drive-In signs show 15 cent dogs and 5 cent root beers. The Met theater with Egyptian decor, Shamrock Hotel’s demolition in 1987, Toddle House pies, Astroworld family outings, and Marvin Zindler’s Channel 13 crusades all evoke a vanished era. Wanda Orton reflects on local history and preserving memories.
