Two Arrested in Elderly Woman Robbery and Assault
Two men in Baytown face aggravated robbery charges after allegedly entering an 80 year old woman’s unlocked apartment on William Avenue Friday night, assaulting her and stealing money. Mark Alan Linder 48 and Michael John Polston 37 were arrested after police traced them to the area and found Linder had confessed and Polston attempted to flee. Both were ordered held on bonds of 40000 and 50000 respectively for Harris County District Court 338.

Baytown Police Beat Reports Burglaries and Thefts
Baytown police logged multiple incidents from Sunday night to Monday morning. Burglary of motor vehicles occurred in the 2500 block of Pecan Manor Drive with $20 stolen. several vehicles were broken into at a motel on Interstate 10 with losses over $170. A vehicle vandalism caused about $2,500 in damage on Shirley Street. A gold 2006 Dodge Ram pickup was broken into at Eastpoint Boulevard with nothing missing. In total 28 offense reports were written, including auto theft, burglaries, thefts, and mischief, plus crashes.

Red light camera citations begin August 11 2008
The city will issue citations at all eight red light camera locations managed by American Traffic Solutions starting August 11 2008 ending the warning period. Locations include Westbound Baker at Garth Eastbound Baker Road at Garth and several others along Garth Baker 146 SH 330 I-10 and Business 146. Contact City of Baytown at 281-420-5311 for details.

LC a 75th milestone eyed by Baytown readers
Orton recalls LC evolution from a district run school to a college with its own board of regents. Since 1965 the superintendent led as president and in 1966 a full time president arrived.
