School OKs Professional Appraiser for Industrial Property
The district board approved employing a professional appraisal firm to evaluate industrial production and utility properties, excluding residential and commercial real estate, to standardize tax values. The move follows a recommendation by the equalization board, which cited differing valuation methods used by Humble Oil and Refining Co., United Rubber and Chemical Corp., and J. M. Huber Corp. The plan includes a $30,000 first year fee and broader modernization of tax office procedures, with a committee to report back in early September.
