Bipartisan FAA deal ends shutdown extends authority through September
Congress reached a bipartisan compromise to reopen the FAA after a two week shutdown costing millions daily. The plan extends FAA operating authority through mid September while cutting 16.5 million in air service subsidies to 13 rural communities, with LaHood retaining waiver power. If enacted, displaced workers could return to jobs and construction funding resume.
