The Casa Linda complex at 3135 Garth Road in Baytown will be razed after LL Real Properties LP failed to meet deadlines in a repair agreement from a June 4 court hearing. A July 23 Baytown Municipal Court proceeding confirmed demolition of all seven structures, as city officials cited missed milestones and noncompliance leading to the action.

The Bay Area Heritage Society will host its 38th Annual Gala on Tuesday August 20 at Goose Creek Country Club. Special honorees are John and Donna Britt, a couple of historians and educators recognized for long careers at Lee College and Goose Creek CISD. John Britt retires after 48 years teaching, with Lee College naming its Social Sciences building for him. Donna Britt has 23 years as an educator in Cedar Bayou Junior School and Sterling High School, and was later honored by the Texas State Historical Association in 2007.
