Migrating shorebirds feed at Baytown Nature Center
The Baytown Nature Center Journal notes dozens of chimney swifts catching insects after a rain. Forster's terns and least terns dive for fish in flow channels while large groups of migrating shorebirds feed in dwindling fresh water ponds. Stilt sandpipers were seen for the first time this season along with wrens, sparrows, a single common yellowthroat, and cardinals singing in the marsh and trail areas. A rabbit waded near the Cyprus Loop Trail.
