Matysiak and Messinger To Tulane In Fall
Two Lee Gander standouts, center Bill Matysiak and tackle David Messinger, will enroll at Tulane University in New Orleans next September. Messinger, weighing 240 pounds, starred as a starting tackle and placekicker contributor for Lee in 1948, while Matysiak, delayed by age rules, spent a year at Tyler Junior College before returning to finish high school. Both players helped Lee’s 1948 squad, and their move to Tulane signals strong college prospects for the pair.
