Lee College Board of Regents schedules a 6:30 p.m. meeting Thursday to set long range date processing center plans with a closed session to discuss personnel. David A. Dudley of SOS E Sterling earned his third Bronze Star Medal with V device during his second Vietnam tour. He received the award near Lam Son 719 west of Khe Sanh with P Company 75th Rangers 5th Infantry Division as the operation ended near the Laotian border. Dudley also earned the Army Commendation Medal, Air Medals, and a Purple Heart. He expects to return to the U.S. in June and wrote to his mother about fighting alongside comrades of all backgrounds.

Baytonian Appointed to Texas Rehabilitation Panel

Water for Baytown rice farms will be cut off from Lake Houston as low levels prompt Houston to divert 26 million gallons daily to Trinity River water for irrigation. Trinity River water will be bought by the San Jacinto River Authority for 25 dollars per million gallons, with plans to reroute Old River water through canals to Cedar Bayou and thence to agricultural customers north of Baytown.
