Creek Indians Win $1.77 Million Land Claim Award
The Indian Claims Commission awarded the Creek Indians of Oklahoma $1,769,910 for lands ceded to the United States in the early 1800s. Offsets may reduce the payout for government expenditures benefiting the tribes. Attorney Paul M. Niebell expects a settlement on offsets within months.
