DeTorre and Riis, then leaders at San Jacinto Methodist and local ACS board, built Bay Area Relay into a year round effort. The event grew from about $91,000 to $146,000 in two years, with Launched Luminary 100 Club and early campsite incentives. Huddle helped recruit sponsors and volunteers, making Relay a community staple. Attendees can honor Riis and Huddle at Stallworth Stadium with a butterfly memorial during the opening ceremony.
