Demographer Pat Guseman of Population and Survey Analysts told Goose Creek board that the district will experience accelerating growth over the next decade with more housing starts in five years, atypical for Houston area districts. She noted Barbers Hill and Sheldon districts as other areas with rising growth.
Goose Creek school board on Monday voted to seek competitive sealed proposals for Horace Mann Junior High additions and renovations. The project carries an estimated 1.4 million over budget within a 2.9 million approved Horace Mann budget tied to last year’s 220.5 million bond plan.
The West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Meet the Candidates forum at 7 tonight in the C T Joseph Conference Center at Barbers Hill Middle School Mont Belvieu. Candidates for Barbers Hill school board and Mont Belvieu mayor will speak followed by audience questions. Randall Foster faces Philip James for Position 5 trustee while Jeff Farrell seeks reelection against Andrew Moyers and Dennis Mudd for Position 6.
Exxon Mobil employees from Baytown Mont Belvieu Friendswood and Webster donated time during National Volunteer Week to Bay Area Rehabilitation Center. They built shade structures painted doors landscaped trails and arranged plant boxes and benches totaling significant volunteer hours.
Chambers County commissioners rejected a plan requiring larger lot sizes in new neighborhoods. In a unanimous vote with Pet. 4 Commissioner Bill Wallace opposing, officials cited lack of public support and private property rights concerns. Wallace said minimal feedback suggested the public did not see it as a major issue.
