Israel shows U S military items amid independence anniversary
In advance of its 23rd independence anniversary Israel unveiled new American equipment to newsmen including the M109 self propelled cannon the M113 armored personnel carrier and the Sikorsky CH53 helicopter. A Katyusha rocket launcher rolled out as war booty from the 1967 conflict. An Israeli official said the artillery piece and carrier can cross water obstacles of any depth. The CH53 helicopter nicknamed the Jolly Green Giant is described as highly maneuverable and represents the most modern Israeli aircraft.
