Sears Baytown store sale could reshape local retail legacy
ESL Investments proposes a $500 million divestiture of Sears Home Services assets and a sale leaseback of Baytown real estate to unlock liquidity. The historic Baytown Sears on Texas Avenue opened in 1950 and moved to the mall in 1981. Shoppers recall a toy department and uniforms, with locals expressing sadness at the potential closing as bidders review the two story store with 1,156,000 square feet of space managed by Fidelis Realty Partners. Interested buyers can bid via RealINSIGHT Marketplace with Cushman & Wakefield brokers.
